Sight to the Blind
Okay, I'm not blind yet, but I've got a good start at 28. This does sound like promising development: Permanent Lenses in Sight [Wired News] . Maybe someday something like that will be a good idea. The sooner the better that they start working out the kinks.
I wish the article has specifically mentioned astigmatism. Astigmatism correction has significant differences from myopia correction because of its asymmetry. The second lenses mentioned in the article might automatically correct it as a side effect just as gas-permeable ("hard") contact lenses do (and hydrophilic "soft" do not).
