Refrigerator Temperature
Scouring the web to find what temperature my refrigerator should be was tougher than I would have guessed. Here's what I ultimately found:
- temperature inside the refrigerator should be between 0C-5C (32-41°F)
- For best quality [meat, poultry, fish], keep the refrigerator temperature between 35 and 40 degrees
- storing butter in the refrigerator at or below 40 degrees F (temperature of refrigerator)
- Vaccines that may be kept refrigerated (stored between 35° to 46° F or 2° to 8° C) or frozen (keep at 5° F or -15° C or colder)
Neat trick to measure the fridge temperature without buying a thermometer for the purpose: put a glass of water in the fridge and then use an instant-read cooking thermometer to get the temp. I finally used my instant thermometer! I've had it for a while, but it seems that I only cook meat for myself at home every year or two.
