I broke it. My marble inlay plate that I got in Agra. Nowhere else in India where I've travelled, North or South, did I see marble inlay except at Agra. As I moved to my new place, I set it down and as the edge tapped the floor--not hard, no harder than my laptop endures with normal use--the plate split.

That’s terrible! And that was a beautiful plate too. Surprising though that it broke so easily - I know they chip away at marble to make it as delicate as lace, but I thought it might be sturdier than the comparison. Then again, you have the BMW of laptops - I am sure that thing would endure a fall from the Grand Canyon and survive or have a service agreement that covers it. :-) Well, you will just have to come back to Agra and get another plate to replace it.

Yes, it does appear that Lakshmi left me, so I must return to the subcontinent to regain her favor.
(I should visit the Grand Canyon one day too, but you’ll forgive me if I don’t test your hypothesis about the sturdy constitution of my laptop. :-)
