Moving on moving
I'm going to move. This sent one friend into shock. But she got better. She didn't believe I'd really do it when I originally mentioned it. I've lived at the same modest place for six years.
I spent some time this afternoon visiting five different places today. I don't know exactly where yet, but to an apt nearby. I think I've narrowed the choices down to two complexes, which I just noticed are owned by the same management company. One, the Arboretum, is primo-location and has a racquetball court. The location makes it relatively expensive. There are two sizes I'm considering there. The other complex, Walnut Creek, is less optimal and so is a bit better priced. It has a tennis court which I'm less likely to use than a racquetball court. It looks better wooded and backs directly against Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park. It also might have a better community environment. The Walnut Creek unit floor space is between between sizes of the two apts in the Arboretum.
They all have coat closets! Big plus. The all have fireplaces which I'm not crazy about (given they take up floor space), a mantle is nice though. They are all close enough to entance of the properties.
| Apt | Floor | $/sq-ft | Other Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arboretum, 765 sq ft | 2nd | 0.90 | |
| Aboretum, 878 sq ft | 1st | 0.88 | Den |
| Walnut Creek, 782 sq ft | 2nd | 0.83 |
As one friend made an excellent selection: a garage or other storage space at the apartment complex might be a better choice than a larger apartment. I'll have to check garage prices tomorrow.
I just noticed that they both list interior sprinkler systems. Wow, if that's what I think it is. Building sprinkler systems are amazingly effective at saving lives and buildings in the event of a fire. There are enough reports of apt fires on the local news for me to take notice.
Update: I can link to the Walnut Creek layout today.
