Lace and Knots
Well, who'd'a thunk I'd change how I tie my shoelaces. I came across a link to a web-site describing the Ian Knot, and a few days later, I'm a convert. It was an appropriate find because it had, believe it or not, recently crossed my mind once or twice how slow it is to tie the knot I'd been tying.
The real feature isn't just the speed though. I find it easier to ensure that I have a square knot, which holds well, rather than a slip knot, which doesn't.
My one alteration was that Ian suggests reversing the starting knot if one finds oneself tying a slip knot. I've been tying my starting knot as I have been for years. That would be hard to change. But I just started using the loops of the Ian knot, so reversing them was an easy solution change.
Anyone got any more tricks this dog should learn?
