A Great Inconvenience for a Visa
Last November, France adopted a law that foreigners needing visas be fingerprinted and photographed at French consulates.
What a disastrous policy for tourism when consulates are few and far between in a large country like the U.S. I'm so glad that India did not have this requirement when I traveled there. If they had, I would have had to take a day off from work to make a pilgrimage to Houston to satisfy it. My parents would probably have to travel to Boston from Maine. The inconvenience would be dramatic. It's one thing to arrive two hours before a flight. It's another to require a full day off from work and eight hours driving in a car (with potential for much more; consulates are not known for quick service) to meet such a requirement.
