Making Tracks
Autumn appears to have arrived this morning, damp and cool and grey. It is unseasonably late, even for this area, but that's been fine with me. The last two weeks have been just gorgeous weather in the 80s and low 90s. During three weekdays of those two weeks, I took off from work in the early afternoon to head down to Town Lake to go jogging, and then I came back and finished off my workday. It's just great that my job is flexible enough to let me do that--it's a major "quality of life" feature. I would definitely look for it in any job.
On Friday, the temperature was 84 with a stiff breeze that whispered in my ear that I should really be sailing. I took a "long jog" of the 6.9 miles from Mopac to I-35. I could have gone around again I think. On Saturday, I did it again. It's the first time I've done it two days in a row (though I used to run 6 mi pretty regularly, up to three days in a row, until my knee bothered me). Unfortunately, the longer distances require more road-running on pavement (not necessarily on the road, but on the sidewalk right next to the road) which isn't as nice on the knees, not to mention the fumes and noise of traffic and watching out for cars turning in front of me.
