Hurricane eradicates arboreal legacyWe must say goodbye to many of our East Campus trees toppled by the hurricane. They have shaded us since Trinity College days and have enhanced the gentle beauty of the campus. We have gathered by them for Botany classes. We have walked under them with dates. In early days we celebrated at evening graduation receptions in their midst, and in later years the commencement teas have been held in their shadows. For those of us who attended the Woman's College, the mention of East Campus conjures up images of those spreading trees shading the lawns. We are grateful for every life spared and for every home left undamaged, but we want also to pause a moment to remember these glorious trees.
